The American Religious Sounds Project is seeking academic partners to expand its geographic representation. We invite inquiries from scholars working on religious pluralism in North America who would like to incorporate sound and community engaged learning in their courses. For a select number of partners, the ARSP staff will provide audio recording equipment, train faculty-led research teams to record religious sounds in local communities, and offer guidelines for following our protocols and using our metadata system. Each research team will be expected to contribute to the ARSP sonic archive and will have the opportunity to create an exhibit for the ARSP Gallery and to publish on the ARSP blog.
The ARSP is especially interested in supporting scholars and religious communities that are under-represented in North American religious studies scholarship.
