D'Arcee C. Neal joins ARSP as part of OSU Global Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme grant
The response to our recent COVID-19 crowdsourcing initiative has been well beyond what we had imagined; we have received recordings of online rituals, drive-in worship services, at-home eucharists, and other types of socially- distanced gatherings. We are currently working on making more of these new types of recordings available on our website.
To help us with these endeavors, D’Arcee Neal has joined the ARSP as our new graduate assistant, funded through an OSU Global Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme grant. D’Arcee is a Ph.D. candidate in OSU’s English department, working at the intersection of African American rhetorical theory, black digital humanities, and disability studies. After presenting audio work at the 2020 International Society of Narrative Studies, and Society for Disability Studies, D'Arcee was awarded the 2020 Anne Sborowitz Scholarship before being named a 2020 Sweetland Digital Rhetoric Scholar and Black Comix Arts Fellow. He also has two forthcoming publications on disabled cultural competence and a cultural critique of X-Men's Storm. In addition to helping us add COVID materials to our archive, D'Arcee will be developing a new online gallery exhibit to show how religious practices have been transformed in the age of COVID-19.
Welcome, D'Arcee!
